New Year's Resolutions

This year, I resolve to post to this blog every single day! Having already missed January 1st, I think I'll just throw that resolution out the window and into the woods. Maybe it'll float downstream to the cidermill, get mixed in with the donut/doughnut batter and find a way into some other blogger's set of resolutions.

I'm not really into the whole resolution thing, but I'll throw a few out there for fun:

1. Swear less. Pretty self-explanatory. Goes along with #2.
2. Get less upset at inanimate objects which, I'm told, are usually not out to get me. Corners of doors and walls are possible exceptions, condsidering how often they jump out at me.
3. Purchase Bora Bora and/or Tahiti and a private jet and vacation there every weekend until we are sick of it.
4. Be happy. Especially that.

That should keep me plenty busy I think.

What about the rest of you? Any particularly exciting resolutions?

Just a couple quick pics for you. :)

For those who missed my Facebook mobile picture, or who want a better resolution picture, this is what the candy bowl looked like after Amilia climbed up onto the counter and selected pretty much all the Hershey Kisses. She only missed a couple red ones that blended in with the Daim candies which, incidentally, began disappearing the next day. Same culprit. None of the wrappers were moved from where I found them. She had a pretty neat little pile.

Amilia uses just about anything to get up higher. Chairs, tables, Karen's head....

Such a Failure

So the one-a-day posting plan obviously didn't work out for the Eggers'. But the whole "failure" thing is good for the Type-A Mommy who needs to be able to get over things like that. (Or something like that...)

And in case you were worrying about the lack of posts, do not fear - we're all doing well - to put the three readers we might have left at ease. Bela is a teenager now, Mia is 2 and Julia a tween and all three ages bring their own sass, spazz and glimmer.

The Mommy is still practicing the art of leaving work at work (and when work is such a mentally, physically and emotionally draining profession as nursing, that sometimes fails...and did we mention that the Mommy is type-A and sucks at things like leaving work at work?) and keeping up with the girls and the house and all that stuff. Sometimes more successfully than other times...

Which is why 3-day weekends are so lovely (some of us had to work Thanksgiving and the day after but get Monday off!), especially when we get to go spend part of it with great friends. This afternoon, Mia will be surrounded by her boys - Seth, Mikias, Taye and Zac. All of them born in Ethiopia. All of them toddlers. And Mommy will be surrounded by her girls - and hopefully a bottle of wine or two. Bliss.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Set X.0 - A walk around Snåsa

Here is Set #10 - simply a nice walk around Snåsa with Karen and her mom plus me and Amilia. I'm too tired to write much. Amilia kept the sleeping limited to a few hours. It was another rough night. I hope tonight goes better!

Set 9 - The Party

We had a lovely party on Saturday, October 17th, so that we could meet as many people as possible on the weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised how many people came and from how far, too! In all seriousness, thank you so very much to everyone who came and to Karen's parents for arranging it for us!!! It is great to have such great family and friends!

I am simply going to post some of the pictures for you to see - enjoy! :-)

Sleep like a baby

Currently our baby is going through a patch of bedtime difficulties. It started with Daddy traveling for work and Mommy working late and routines getting thrown out the window for a day or two. And although it hasn't been that long, and although it hasn't been that bad, it's really not that much fun and we're tired. But we're dealing with it, and finding a way through thicket. Although it might mean some bruised ribs and clawed faces from a very cuddly, generally horizontally sleeping darling.

(I swear I have plans of more substantial posts for this long month of posts that I've obviously already failed at doing, was it not for my loving husband who has filled the void with beautiful Norway pictures and funny commentary. But it turns out that an extra touch of sleep deprivation will make deep thought disappear...)
